Prevention of diabetes
prevention of diabetes
Under normal circumstances, the risk of diabetes increased with increasing age. The disease can also affect women during pregnancy, leading to complications for mother and child. Certain population groups, particularly Indigenous Australians and some ethnic groups have higher diabetes.
In many cases, type 2 diabetes can be prevented or delayed through lifestyle changes simple to reduce diabetes and other chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular disease and cancer risk. These risks include being overweight, poor eating habits, lack of exercise, smoking and excessive alcohol consumption.
